Nutrition :
Pongal is a balanced filling meal, giving you proteins, carbs and many important minerals. Using ghee adds essential fatty acids

Ingredients :
Moong dal, Rice, Curry leaves, Mustard seeds, Jeera, Black pepper, Ghee, Chilli (optional)

Instructions :
  1. Pressure cook 1 katori of moong dal & 1 katori of rice in 4 katori of water for 3-5 whistles
  2. In a pan add 1 tsp of ghee, 4-5 curry leaves, 1/2 tsp of mustard seeds, 1/2 tsp of jeera, 1 red chilli (optional), 4 black peppercorns & stir fry it
  3. Smash the cooked dal & rice in the stir-fried ingredients made in step 2 along with salt as per taste. 
  4. Serve hot
Makes 3 katori of cooked Pongal
